Woman punched and tied up during terrifying aggravated burglary at her home in Dublin

A woman was punched and tied up during a terrifying aggravated burglary at her home in Dublin.

The victim, named locally as Linda Farrell, 40, was alone in her house on Coleraine Street, Central Dublin, when two raiders burst in shortly after 4am.

The thugs forced her out of bed and demanded she hand over cash. A senior source said the pair also asked her to point them to her safe. She added: “She kept telling them she had no safe. They hit her in the face and tied her up.”

The violent thugs ransacked the home in Dublin’s North Inner city causing an estimated €1,500 in criminal damage. After over 30 minutes Ms Farrell managed to free herself and escape. The quick-thinking woman locked the door behind her and alerted gardai at the nearby Bridewell station. However, the two men managed to break down a rear window and escape from the home. The suspects wore hoodies and gloves and were described as being 5ft 8ins with Dublin accents.
